I am always in the market, mentally and emotionally, for new information. I recently came across someone called Cheryl Page, who leads a session through the Shift Network called The Quantum Mystic Path. Even in the very first session, she offered some brilliant thoughts. But the one that really struck me was how she took the word question and broke it open.
Children are full of questions. We ask questions of them all the time at school. But Cheryl reframed the word, separating it into two parts: quest and ion. A quest is a journey, a search for something sacred. And an ion is a particle of energy. I was so intrigued by that. Because, truly, we are working in an education system where children are on a quest. And the nature of a quest, by its very design, is exciting. It has background music. It is full-on.
You have got your gear on. You have chosen your costume, the one you wear for the journey. You have selected your weapon, your magic, your superpowers. You know what your quest is. You might say: My quest is to save the princess. Or My quest is to save the world. Or My quest is to find the Holy Grail.
This is what we are stepping into. And it offers a really beautiful way to reframe school. If we are going to reimagine education in any meaningful way, then let us begin with this: All the children are on a quest. They carry energy, ion, toward that quest. And our work is to create the framework, the environment, the coherence field in which they can pursue it.
Because imagine this: all these children on a quest, each one living a storyline, holding a mission, and then, at every turn, their time is stifled. They are nickeled and dimed. They are stopped in their freedom of expression. They are blocked from using their magic and their power. They are sidelined into smaller quests by someone else’s agenda. Or they are told directly: No, you cannot do your quest.
And where does that lead? To frustration. To anger. To deviousness. Because they will still carry their quest, but now they will do it behind closed doors, in secret, in ways you may not see or understand. The quest will not disappear. It will simply go underground.
So let us reframe the word question into quest-ion. Let us feel into that as we approach the 2025–2026 school year. Let it shift our perception. Let it remind us: each child is already on their journey.
Each question they ask is charged with energy. Our role is not to manage that energy, but to make room for it.
